作者介紹
作、繪者：陳志勇（Shaun Tan）
1974年出生在澳洲的陳志勇，父親是馬來西亞的華僑，在1960年代移民到澳洲，母親則是澳洲人。陳志勇成長於澳洲西部珀斯市（Perth）的北邊郊區，在學期間他就有「畫畫高手」的稱號，這多少彌補了「他總是全班個子最小」的缺憾。青少年時期，陳志勇就開始為科幻小說畫插圖，也為小印量雜誌中的恐怖故事配插圖，這也奠定了他擅長以奇幻如夢的想像手法，詮釋社會、政治、歷史相關題材的特殊風格。
陳志勇畢業於華盛頓大學藝術系以及英國文學系，目前專職繪本插畫，代表作品包括：《抵岸The Arrival》、《別的國家都沒有》（Tales from Outer Suburbia）、《觀像鏡》（The Viewer）、《兔子》（The Rabbits）、《失物招領》（The Lost Thing）、《緋紅樹》（The Red Tree）、《夏天的規則》（Rules of Summer）、《大城小傳》（Tales from the Inner City）、《白骨在歌唱》（The Singing Bones）、《蟬》（CICADA）等。個人更曾獲得林格倫獎（ALMA）、雨果獎（Hugo Award）年度職業藝術家、世界奇幻獎（World Fantasy Award）年度藝術家、軌跡獎（Locus Award）年度藝術家等多項重量級國際大獎。
除了繪本創作，陳志勇也跨足雕塑創作、劇場設計、電影製片等工作。他曾與好萊塢知名動畫公司藍天工作室（Blue Sky Studios）與皮克斯動畫工作室（Pixar）合作，擔任動畫片《荷頓奇遇記》以及《瓦力》的造型顧問。他也與澳洲動畫公司合作，執導自己的同名作品改編而成的動畫《失物招領》，並獲得奧斯卡最佳動畫短片獎。
